Im not sure it that would really lead to a good outcome, though, and youd need a very high quality displacement map.

You could also try a Vray ColortoBump() map and hook that into the bump slot.

And then you could also multiply it over your diffuse map via a composite or RGB-multiply map in order to add some visual depth.

Its the vray zdepth map I was wondering where to place in the vray material as shown with the question mark in my graphic.

I saw the Vray zdepth render element, not knowing where to hook the rendered map into the vray material and what it does tbh.

Wasnt Z Depth on render elements not enough to give your render a depth (DOF in particular).

Or you want to know where to use the Vray Z Depth Map on the render.

You combine both maps via an RGB multiply map or a composite map where the Depth-Map is set to multiply (or use a Vray equivalent if existing) and put that into the diffuse.

Either way the original geometry used to render the hair map would no longer be present.
